There were four visitors to the meeting: Nancy Tower, of Longville, made a presentation regarding Business Workforce and Recovery Solutions, a company supporting comprehensive disaster recovery. Their purpose is to collaborate with non profits and helping to unite all support group agencies, to provide direct services like training and consulting, and to identify gaps and help to fill them. They will begin taking clients August 11 and will hold an event a the Chamber of Commerce on August 31. The DeRidder City Council met at 5:30 yesterday at DeRidder City Hall. All members were present except Councilwoman Reynolds. Dale Sappo addressed the council from the visitor s docket in support of Cheryl Robinson regarding the memorial street designation for Johnny Robinson. Sergeant David Stannard II received recognition for 10 years service with the DeRidder Police Department. An emergency ordinance was introduced and approved authorizing emergency work performed by Apek Construction on 8th Street for mobilization, point repair of an 8â clay pipe. A public hearing was held for the ordinance providing the honorary designation of Johnnie Robinson Street to Rock Street. Councilman John Marcello suggested that instead of the temporary street designation that a memorial marker that would be permanent could be designed instead.
