KITTERY, Maine Less than three weeks away from its scheduled installation, Horace Mitchell Primary School’s Project Playground initiative is seeking a final infusion of donations to cover remaining project costs. Replacing the school’s current playground, which is around two decades old, according to school Principal Allison Gamache, costs roughly $225,000. The playground will feature monkey bars, a zipline, an updated swing set and numerous climbing structures and more. Gamache said that, through prior consultation with an occupational therapist, handicap accessible surfacing is a primary focus of the installation for students with physical disabilities, as well as those from the community using the playground who have accessibility challenges. ....

Kittery Rotary donations to fund new books for third-graders Portsmouth Herald KITTERY, Maine – Each year, the Rotary Club of Kittery donates $100 to each third grade classroom at Mitchell Primary School to help build the classroom libraries with new, fun and engaging books. Mitchell Primary School Principal Alli Gamache was joined recently by third-graders Roxy and Cliffy to show off the six checks from the Rotary Club of Kittery. The six third-grade teachers and their students will have fun selecting the books from online or local vendors.
