Margaret V. Bell - Riverhead News Review

Riverhead resident Margaret V. Bell died Jan. 19, 2021, at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 91.
Born April 9, 1929, in Riverhead, she was the daughter of James and Willie Ann (Jones) Gaines. She graduated from Riverhead High School in 1947.
She worked as a house cleaner in the Quogue area, and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Aquebogue. Family said she was “a family woman” who enjoyed reading.
Predeceased by her husband, Aaron S. Bell, in 1978 and by her daughter Margaret Bell, she is survived by her children Jacqueline Robinson and Joanne Bell, both of Riverhead; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. ....

ROCHESTER – “When you hear what this agency is about to do for you; it gives you goosebumps.”
That was the initial reaction of Rochester resident John Nicolosi, when he learned that the staff at Community Action Partnership of Strafford County were going to provide full weatherization and a new heating system to his home.
“I am on Social Security disability and I have used Strafford County CAP for fuel assistance in the past few years,” said Nicolosi. “Every year on the application there is a question asking if I am interested in joining their weatherization program. I always check yes, but in the back of mind, I thought, being a single man, I’d be far behind on the list because so many families with kids probably need this more.” ....

Alston Moor Parish Council to remember well-loved community figures

A PARISH council has remembered those lost throughout the past year, and plans to create a long-standing memorial are in the works.
During the past 12 months, Alston Moor has seen the loss of well-loved resident Vince Peart, 86, popular resident Paul Harry Turnbull – known as Teapot due to his infamous hats.
The community also said goodbye to former councillors Margaret Bell in October, and Dick Phillips last year, who were both key figures within the community, with Margaret being well-known for her fundraising raffles, and Dick serving on the council for 35 years.
At the Alston Moor Parish Council meeting, held via Zoom on December 7, plans to install a memorial bench in their honour were discussed. ....
