A Cookbook for Ski Bums
Story by Katie Lozancich
If you re a twenty-something-year-old still poaching free breakfast burritos from the gas station then it s time for either an intervention or to get yourself a copy of
Beyond Skid cookbook is a volume of delicious, healthy meals that can fuel your passion for all things mountain sports. And the best part? Everything is super easy to make.
The cast-iron pan sizzles to life when I add minced garlic, onion, zucchini, and mushrooms to it. Suddenly the kitchen is filled with the intoxicating aroma of garlic and onion. While those vegetables are sauteing, I open the oven and grab the potatoes that have been roasting for the last 15 minutes, and dump them into the pan. “Can I do anything to help?” my boyfriend Luke asks, visibly worried that we won’t make it to the ski resort in time. Cape Town – Manenberg residents held a memorial service to pay tribute to a beloved community worker who devoted his life to bringing peace to the gang-ridden area.
Ronald Desmond Snipper’s family was left heartbroken when the man known for his role in mediating between gang bosses during some of the bloodiest gang wars died of Covid-19.
His wife Francis, 75, says the 66-year-old, fondly known as “Boeta Errol”, was admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital on New Year s Eve after falling ill on Christmas day.

Restaurants have always been a vital part of any New York City neighborhood. One of the greatest perks of being a New Yorker is the vast array of places we have to eat on any given night, even during a global pandemic but during 2020, they did even more, banding together to feed those in need in their community and sending countless meals to frontline workers during COVID s darkest days here last spring.
Even though winter weather is inevitably forcing us to gather less frequently outdoors at our familiar spots, through Seamless we can keep the feeling alive with a great meal, made with love, delivered directly to our home. The choices of cuisine are staggering. The ordering couldn t be easier. And it s definitely the most delicious way to support your local favorites, or try something new, and help ensure they ll all still be around when springtime comes again. Plus, when you donate the change on your Seamless order, it supports restaurants ....

Side-by-side, we were playfully kicking each other’s legs from behind. A great game, and I was chortling away every time I delivered my childish blow to my dad’s legs.
But then it happened. Our legs got tangled. I remember the puzzled and slightly panicked look on his face as he began to fall. Forwards. Face first. I was small then. My dad seemed enormous. And here he was now, falling forward - with both hands stuck in his pockets. I saw his elbows wriggle as he tried to get free. But too late. Like some giant tree falling in the forest, he swayed at first, and then, picking up momentum, he hurled f ....
