Feb 5, 2021 James L. McCloskey, 89, born in 1931 in Lycoming County, passed away on Jan. 26, 2021 at Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. James was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Beverly (Seiders) McCloskey; his parents, Sarah (Liddic) McCloskey and Leroy McCloskey; and three sisters, Doris Peterman, 89, of Muncy, Jean Stryker, 94, of Oregon, and Catherine Raplee, 93, of Oregon; and a newborn infant daughter, Ann McCloskey, born 1968. James grew up in Montoursville, on Loyalsock Avenue and graduated from Montoursville High School. As a teenager, he worked at the Acme Markets on Broad Street in Montoursville and saved his earnings to buy his first car with cash, a 1949 Chevy. At Acme, he learned the grocery business and worked his way into management. He retired with 23 years of service to pursue owning his own business. ....
Dec 29, 2020 Robert L. “Bobby” George, 82, of Montoursville, passed away on Christmas day, Dec. 25, 2020, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. He was married to his loving wife, the former Barbara Womelsdorf on Aug. 20, 1960. Bobby was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Williamsport. He was a member of the first Little League team in Montoursville. During high school, Bobby played football and basketball. He graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 1957. He then went on to graduate from West Chester State College receiving his bachelor’s degree and received his master’s degree from Cortland, NY. Bobby was a Montoursville High School Health and Physical Education and Drivers Ed teacher for 40 years “minus 5”. He coached Montoursville High School Football in the sixties and seventies, and he started the first track and field team “Oh my”. ....
Dec 15, 2020 James R. Stabley, of Montoursville, received his angel wings on Dec. 13, 2020. He was born on Sept. 11, 1944 to the late Elmer R. Stabley and Elizabeth J. (Mitstifer) Stabley in Williamsport. He attended Loyalsock Elementary and Junior high school, but attended Williamsport High School aviation program and graduated from the class of 1962. He proudly served in the U.S.M.C. from 1962 to 1966, including a tour in Vietnam as a crew chief on helicopters giving direct support to the fighting units on the ground in the form of rescue missions and medical evacuations. Following his military service, Jim attended W.A.C.C., (now Penn College) taking the Aviation Course, while working at Avco Lycoming. ....
