What are the duties and obligations that a town council has to its residents, the people who elected those members, to fulfill them? Is a town a business or responsible to people first? These were primary questions Councillor Todd Taylor brought to bear during an interview with the Citizen last week.
We were sitting in a patio, sun overhead, enjoying a coffee at one of the fine coffee houses on Broadway.
Coun. Taylor’s position with the town is part of the overhaul from the last municipal election in 2018, brought to the Orangeville Council. The election introduced new faces with fresh attitudes, as one might hope, to be judicious with the town’s finances and improve the town council’s relationship with the people living here. ....

Trainer Stuart Kendrick and his family have completed a rags to riches story with I’ve Bean There, selling the two-year-old originally purchased for just $13,000 to Hong Kong for a $900,000 bonanza.
I’ve Bean There looked like he was set to be a spring player in Australia, finishing fourth in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) which was won by Captivant at Randwick in April.

Town striving towards net zero by 2050 | Orangeville Citizen

The Town of Orangeville adopted a target for net zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) by 2050 at its most recent Council meeting (May 10).
Town staff are now in the process of developing and setting an interim community emissions reduction target once specific mitigation actions are prioritized dependent on level of impact, available resources, and support.
Sustainable Orangeville has been having discussions on setting a target and making it as ambitious as possible, noted Coun. Grant Peters, who has been a proponent of reducing GHGs locally.
He said that while much of the emissions in Town are beyond the municipality’s control, such as those produced by residents or automotive vehicles, there are certain changes that can be made by Council to reach the net zero emission target. Particularly, with respect to Town buildings and their operation. ....

MADISON, Wis. â Nearly 1,500 filled Breese Stevens Stadium in Madison for Forward Madisonâs home opener against North Carolina FC.
For the fans in attendance, Saturday eveningâs game was a win â even before the game was played.
âWeâre just really happy to be able to be back, and this is awesome,â said supporter Kieth Poniewaz. âIt feels like a family reunion where you like all of your family members.â
COVID-19 restrictions in Dane County led to the club playing home matches in Wauwatosa for the 2020 season. While the club makes its return home for the 2021 season, not everything is back to the 2019 standards. ....
