MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas senior Gleb Dudarev won his fourth career Big 12 title in the men’s hammer throw on day one of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Manhattan, Kansas on Friday, setting the facility record. Dudarev, a native of Vitebsk, Belarus, unleashed a throw of 72.31m (237-3 ft.) on his first attempt to jump out to a lead, Dudarev would improve upon his initial throw on his second and third throws, with his third throw of 74.61m (244-9 ft.) holding as the top throw throughout the competition. Dudarev’s throw broke the R.V. Christian stadium facility record of 70.57m (231-06 ft.) set by Oklahoma State’s Nick Miller set in 2013. With his fourth career Big 12 title, Dudarev also ties Miller for the most Big 12 hammer throw titles in event history.

🠟 Jayhawks Close Out Weekend at the Jayhawk Classic – Kansas Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track & field closed out the weekend at the Jayhawk Classic on Saturday, with several Jayhawks setting career best marks. After four events in the heptathlon on Friday, Kansas senior Grant Downes picked up where he left off on Saturday, completing the men’s heptathlon with a career-best 4,900 points. Sophomore Clay Eckert followed Downes in second place with 4,616 points. In the women’s pole vault, junior Samantha Van Hoecke set a career best, vaulting 4.15m (13-7.25 ft.). Van Hoecke’s mark improves from 4.00m (13-1.5 ft.) set at last week’s KU-KSU-WSU Triangular. Van Hoecke’s mark of 4.15m (13-7.25 ft.) makes her the No. 7 performer in KU indoor history.

🠟 Facility Records Fall on Day One of the Jayhawk Classic – Kansas Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. –  Two Anschutz Pavilion records were broken on the first day of the Jayhawk Classic on Friday, as Zach Bradford broke the pole vault facility record and Gleb Dudarev broke the weight throw facility record. Bradford, competing in the men’s pole vault, opened at 5.35m (17-6.5 ft.) before working his way up to 5.65m (18-6.5 ft.). Bradford cleared the bar at 5.65m (18-6.5 ft.) on his third attempt, before missing on all three attempts at 5.70m (18-8.25 ft.). Bradford’s facility records bests his mark of 5.60m (18-4.5 ft.) set at the 2020 Jayhawk Classic. Dudarev, competing unattached, initially broke his own facility record on his third attempt, throwing 24.39m (80-00 ft.), before improving on his mark on the following attempt, throwing 24.82m (81-5 ft.). Dudarev’s mark breaks his own facility record of 24.38m (80-00 ft.) set at last year’s Jayhawk Classic.
