LAWRENCE The University of Kansas will celebrate its 109th Homecoming Oct. 13-16, culminating in the KU football game against Texas Tech on Oct. 16 in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
The KU Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Leadership Board will coordinate Homecoming activities, led by Megan McGinnis, the association’s assistant director of student programs. KU’s Homecoming tradition began in 1912.
Homecoming leaders will meet throughout the spring semester to select a theme and finalize the schedule of activities, which may include a combination of virtual and in-person events as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. A highlight of the week will include the selection of 10 student finalists for the Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership (Ex.C.E.L.) Awards. The winners will be announced during halftime of the football game Oct. 16.
The Kansas softball team will hit the road for a midweek clash against No. 19 Missouri on April 13. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. first pitch on the SEC+ Network with Nate Gatter and Ashley Moore on the call.
NORMAN, Okla. – A home run by senior James Cosentino in the 10th inning proved to be the difference in the Kansas Jayhawks’ 8-7 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell park. Jonah Ulane appeared in the eighth and pitched a 1-2-3 10th to secure the win for the Jayhawks.
Kansas (18-12, 2-6 Big 12) was led at the plate on a career day by Josenberger. The freshman was a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with a triple, a double and two RBI. His six hits tied a single-game record held by current Jayhawk assistant coach Ritchie Price, who completed the six-hit performance Feb. 26, 2004 against Oakland.
NORMAN, Okla. – Redshirt-junior Sydnee Ramsey hit her fifth home run of the season as KU fell to No. 1 Oklahoma, 10-1, on Saturday afternoon at Marita Hynes Field.
The Jayhawks drop to 17-14 on the season and 1-5 in Big 12 play. The Sooners improve to 28-0 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12.
OU struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning and tabbed another in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.
The Sooners added four more in the third before KU was able to get on the board.
After getting through the order, KU brought the top of the lineup to the plate in the top of the fourth. With a 1-0 count, Ramsey led off the inning with a solo-home run to cut down the Sooners lead, 6-1.
