The campaign, called CapNY, short for “Capable of Anything,” aims to sell the eight counties of the Capital Region Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, and Washington as one cohesive metropolitan area with over one million residents cumulatively. It includes a new website, social media channels, and social media targeted ads for young professionals in New York City and Boston. ....

The announcement, held online, unveiled the new brand that the Capital Region has been labeled with: CapNY. The branding work by ACE informs the CEG-lead talent attraction campaign that includes a new website and social media channels, along with social media placements targeted at young professionals. The idea to create a brand came from ACEâs early conversations among the regionâs creative and business communities and the fact that the region does not have a way to talk about itself. ....
ALBANY, N.Y. â Creative industries sectors suffered some of the highest percentage of job loss in the Capital Region by the end of last summer, according to new statistics from the New York Department of Labor. In the third quarter, the performing arts and spectator sports sector saw a 64% decline in jobs over the year â the highest percentage lost out of any other sector in the eight-county region. âThis industry has been devastated,â said Philip Morris, president and CEO of Proctors Collaborative, in a press release. Proctors laid off 160 full-time and 53 part-time workers, plus has hired no stage hands for a year, the equivalent of $3 million of annual payroll. There are now 32 full-time staff, representing an 80% loss in full-time staff positions at Proctors. ....
