The U.S. has agreed to sell two Gulfstream G550 Aircraft with Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Electronic Warfare (AISREW) Mission Systems for $500 million to Italy.
The Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Italy was approved by the U.S. State Department today. According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Italy s government requested two aircraft and supporting equipment including four Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems – Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS), three GPS security devices and four RIO Communications Intelligence Systems.
Also included are Missile Warning Sensors, AN/ALE-47 Countermeasure Dispenser Sets (CMDS), MX-20HD Electro-Optical and Infra-Red systems, Osprey 50 AESA Radars, AISREW ISR equipment, Secure Communications equipment, Identification Frie ....

The US government has approved the sale to Italy of special mission kits for Gulfstream G550 aircraft, valued at an estimated USD500 million.
The US is to provide Italy with special mission kits for two G550 aircraft that, externally at least, will be similar in appearance to the G550 CAEW which it previously acquired from IAI in Israel. (IAI)
Announced on 15 December, the State Department approval covers the procurement and integration of two Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Electronic Warfare (AISREW) mission systems onto a pair of G550 aircraft to be provided by the Italian Ministry of Defence (MoD). ....

Dec. 15 (UPI) The State Department approved a possible $500 million sale of two fully equipped Gulfstream G550 Aircraft to Italy Tuesday.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Italy s government requested two aircraft and supporting equipment including four Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems, three GPS security devices and four (4) RIO Communications Intelligence Systems.

Italy also requested that up to six additional U.S. contractors work in Italy for a year train personnel in use of the new equipment. ....
