Date Time Council endorses $344 million budget Council will continue delivering high quality infrastructure projects, services, and initiatives for both current and future residents after endorsing an exciting $344 million budget recently. The 2017/18 – 2021/22 Revised Delivery Program and 2021/22 Operational Plan (Budget) will see the delivery of a $180 million Capital Works Program, including the continuation of the $5.1 million Community Infrastructure Renewal Program (CIRP), as well as a budget surplus of almost $1.8 million reinvested into the community. It will also see the delivery of Council’s Stage Three $113.9 million COVID-19 support package, after the successful rollout of Stages One and Two in 2020, for residents and local businesses adversely affected by the pandemic. ....

But most recently, adventurists using the riverbanks as four-wheel drive tracks and camping grounds have outraged locals, especially when left in deplorable conditions. In late 2018, Somerset council partnered with Seqwater and the Council of Mayors to co-fund an investigation into Hills Crossing and Savages Crossing. The report, which focuses on rebuilding the natural environment and community education, looks at opportunities for designated car parks, boom gates, paved walkways fencing and vegetation planting.
