Malaysia’s High Court has dismissed a “frivolous” lawsuit brought by two Christians against a prominent Muslim politician accused of making seditious statements about Christians.
Maklin Masiau and Lawrence Jomiji Kinsil Maximilhian, from the state of Sabah on the island of Borneo, filed a lawsuit last December against Abdul Hadi Awang, president of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), alleging that the politician had libeled Christians in an article published in 2016 by a PAS-run newspaper. ....

LETTER | As we inch close to Hari Raya this week, it is most painful to witness the tears among our Malaysian Muslim citizens.
The “balik kampung” sojourn has been stalled although we saw some surprising traffic jams at major tolls.
Bazaars which normally would see jam-packed last minute shopping have been told they can operate; then it was changed to shorter hours; and then suddenly ordered to be closed.
Last year, our Malaysian Muslim brothers and sisters made a huge sacrifice without complaining in the face of Covid-19. ....

Before Shila Amzah broke into the China and international market, the Malaysian singer-songwriter lived in Hong Kong for two years between 2012 and 2014.
The 30-year-old recalled in a press release that she would miss home the most during Ramadan and Hari Raya in those years, as she was focused on her career and couldn’t make it home for the festival.
Luckily for her, she found some people in Hong Kong to buka puasa with during Ramadan. She added that it was easy to make herself at home in Hong Kong. ....

Do you (or anyone you know) have family in Johor Bahru that you miss celebrating Ramadan with? My Happy Table will be connecting more Muslims with their families back home, ” posted McDonald’s Singapore in its official Facebook page on Monday (April 19).
