Charlie, an eight-year-old dachshund living with his family in Bryan, went missing Saturday night, when he was driven out of his backyard by fireworks. Charlie’s family, the Jeters, live near the east side of Texas State Highway 6, between William J.B. Parkway and Martin Luther King Jr. Street. For two days, owner Candace Jeter has been searching nonstop.

Lost Dogs of America is a volunteer organization providing free services to help reunite families with lost dogs. The organization has helped reunite over 150,000 dogs with families since 2011. Marilynn Litt is the Director of Lost Dogs of Texas, she said she submitted the idea of lost dog awareness back in 2014 and now its always on April 23.

Maddie, a mix between a Schnauzer and a terror, is finally back home Sunday tonight thanks to a rescue group and the power of social media. Maddie’s family never replaced her. “In dog years, Maddie is 108. She’s loving and kind and obedient,” said owner Rachel Koster. For the past three years, Maddie has been on a journey. She got lost after the Koster’s moved to their home in New Caney from the Woodlands.
