Bedford Rallies Against AAPI Violence

BEDFORD, N.Y. – More than 250 people gathered on the field in front of the C&M Pavilion at Bedford Village Memorial Park on Saturday, April 10, to rally to listen to members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community speak about how the surge in racist attacks against the AAPI community has affected them.
The rally was organized by Catherine Caley, a student at Fox Lane High School, along with three other high school- and college-aged members of the AAPI community. They spoke to the crowd about their experiences with racial issues as Asian Americans, along with a list of elected officials and local politicians. Members of the crowd listened and held signs reading “racism is a virus” and “stop AAPI hate.” ....

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said President Biden’s American Rescue Plan should not be called “COVID relief” after examining his local newspaper’s reporting of where funds will go.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY It s one thing to make resolutions and then choose not to act on them. It s another thing to have one s good intentions and everyone else s thwarted by a global pandemic. That is what local officials faced at the beginning of 2020 with only two months before society and the economy were shut down.
