Archaeologists have dated the artefact to the end of the First Temple period, about 2,500 years ago. Only one other figurine of this kind has been found in Israel to date, making its discovery all the more astounding. Zvi Ben-David, 11, from Beer Sheba spotted the ancient object a few weeks ago while on a family trip to the Nahal Besor stream or wadi in southern Israel. ....

Archaeologists unearthed the seal a few years ago at the City of David in the Jerusalem Walls National Park.
The Israeli national park covers parts of the ancient city and includes some of the most important archaeological sites in the whole country.
The IAA highlighted the discovery on Monday as the world celebrated International Women s Day 2021.
In a Facebook post, the IAA said: Who do you think is a strong woman? @tag her.
The seal hails from the First Temple period - an estimated 957 to 697 BC - named after the Biblical First Temple built by King Solomon on top of Jerusalem s holy Temple Mount. ....

The four golden coins were discovered during archaeological excavations in Jerusalem s Jewish Quarter, one of the four iconic quarters of the Old City. The Jewish Quarter, which covers a 116,000 square meter area, was being prepped for the construction of a lift that will grant access to the Western Wall Plaza. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) were overseeing the works to ensure no artefacts of value were lost. ....
