Group of residents challenge soon to open Tree House Brewery in Sandwich

SANDWICH A group of residents in the Town Neck neighborhood has banded together to question the legality of the soon-to-open Tree House Brewery taproom.
“My clients are not opposed to Tree House,” said Daniel J. Bailey III, who is representing four households in the area. “What they are opposed and appalled by is that the town has not required Tree House Brewery to comply with the legal requirements.”
Bailey filed an appeal to the Massachusetts Building Code Appeals Board arguing that Tree House Brewery was unlawfully given permission to do extensive repairs on the former restaurant without first bringing it up to federal flood zone regulations. ....

Tree House Brewery Hit With New Legal Challenges

Three new legal salvos this week were fired over the bow of a proposed taproom and retail beer sales operation on Town Neck Road.
Boston attorney Daniel J. Bailey III has filed complaints with the Massachusetts Office of Public Safety and Inspection and the Sandwich Conservation Commission alleging that a building permit should not have been issued to Tree House Brewing Company.
Tree Houseâs proposed business is located within a flood zone and a protected coastal wetland resource area, Mr. Bailey said in his letter to the state public safety officeâs board of appeals.
Mr. Bailey said he is bringing the complaint on behalf of four couples who live on Freeman Avenue, which is adjacent to the proposed taproom and beer distribution site. ....

Town Neck Neighbors Remain Concerned About Tree House Brewery Spillover

Route 6A in Sandwich looked more like a parking lot than a roadway on Tuesday afternoon, April 20 as traffic heading off-Cape inched toward the Sagamore Bridge, which is narrowed for repairs.
Residents who live along Town Neck Beach believe that gridlock is what is to come in their neighborhood when Tree House Brewery opens this summer.
âTree House will be open from 7 AM to 11 PM, will have a beer distribution site, food trucks, a beer garden and a brewery on less than a half-acre of land,â said a woman who lives in a nearby house. âAnd thereâs only one way in and out of this area.â ....

SOUTH DEERFIELD After being rescued Sunday by a Deerfield police officer, veterinarians and a local resident with a “trusty net,” an injured bobcat is on its way to recovering and returning to the wild.
Deerfield police Officer Mark Puchalski took a report of an injured bobcat next to the driveway of Tree House Brewery at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Once on the scene, he met with two staff members from the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital, right across Routes 5 and 10 from where the animal was found, and noticed the young bobcat had an injured rear leg. ....

Sandwich Board of Selectmen approve plans for Tree House Brewery

SANDWICH Founders of the Tree House Brewing Co. were inundated by concerns from their soon-to-be neighbors during a virtual license hearing Thursday evening.
“I do think this is all exciting,” said Pam Arrighi, a resident who lives a few doors down from the proposed new Tree House Brewing Co.. But, “How do you think this is not going to affect our lives every single day?”
The Sandwich Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to grant Tree House Brewing Co. a Farmer Series Pouring Permit and Entertainment License.
There were more than 50 participants in the remote hearing on the ZOOM video-conferencing platform. ....
