Dear members of the UMaine and UMM communities,
Earlier this week, we had an exciting look at the future of UMaine athletics that will change our landscape and shape our student experience for generations. As one of the four initiatives made possible by the $240 million grant from the Harold Alfond Foundation, we are going to build outstanding facilities to support our student-athletes, campus recreation enthusiasts and youth statewide â our future Black Bears. Black Bear XC ski and snowshoe races scheduled for Feb. 21
Cross country skiers and snowshoers are invited to hit the trails Sunday, Feb. 21 for the annual Black Bear XC ski and snowshoe races on the University of Maine Trails.
The event is sponsored by UMaine Campus Recreation, the Maine Bound Adventure Center and the College of Education and Human Developmentâs Outdoor Leadership program, part of the School of Kinesiology, Physical Education and Athletic Training.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the race is limited to 45 participants, and is open only to UMaine students, faculty and staff.
Racers can participate in a 5K classic ski at 1 p.m., a 5K or 10K skate ski at 1:15 p.m., or a 2K snowshoe contest at 2:30 p.m. Preregistration is required; a link is available on the UMaine Outdoor Leadership social media pages (Facebook or Instagram).
