It’s true that coronavirus is not among the top five most deadly diseases in Africa today. But it’s also correct that at this time, we know far less about the COVID-19 pandemic than we know about malaria, diarrhoeal diseases, Ischaemic heart diseases, meningitis, tuberculosis, or HIV/AIDS. ....

Breaking News | NCDC confirms 397 fresh COVID-19 infections, 10 deaths


• FCT loses four doctors, affirms full medical services
The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) has documented 397 new COVID-19 infections in the country. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which got the information from the centre’s verified website, reported that the nation has so far tested 932,327 people since the first confirmed case was announced on February 27.
The public health body said the fresh infections were reported from 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) bringing the country’s total number of infected people to 84,811.
The NCDC also stated that there were 12,126 active cases across the federation. The organisation added that deaths resulting from coronavirus complications had increased by 10, while 323 patients had been discharged nationwide after testing negative for the virus. ....

Two Doctors Die Of COVID-19 In Abuja


 
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, the FCTA said a female doctor with the Gwarimpa General hospital, passed on two weeks ago while a private medical doctor died last week.
Following the recent developments, the known number of medical doctors that have succumbed to COVID-19 in the FCT now stands at four since the outbreak of the virus in March.
“Since the first case of COVID-19 was recorded in the FCT on March 27th, 2020, a total of 4 doctors working in both public and private hospitals have regrettably succumbed to the disease,” the statement partly read. ....

FCTA loses two more doctors to Covid-19

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has disclosed that two more doctors have succumbed to the coronavirus in the Federal Capital Territory in the past two weeks.
It explained that a female doctor with the Gwarimpa General hospital, passed on two weeks ago while a private medical doctor died last week, bringing the total of doctors lost to the virus in the FCT to four since March.
This was contained in a statement on Tuesday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, titled, ‘FCT hospitals are rendering full services.’ ....
