MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The hill got a little steeper for Chattanooga teams playing in the 2021 state softball tournament here at the Starplex fields on Wednesday.
Baylor and GPS won opening round games on Wednesday morning, but the Bruisers got run-ruled by Baylor in their second game as the Lady Red Raiders improved to 25-1 with the 12-1 victory.
Sale Creek and Red Bank both posted impressive wins in their opening round games on Tuesday, but it was a different story on Wednesday as they both got beat.

Back-To-Back Lady Lions Homeruns Seal Signal Mountain s Fate Monday, May 10, 2021 - by William Shelton
Red Bank put together an all-around solid performance to beat Signal Mountain, 10-6, and finally got to lift the District 6AA championship plaque they came so close to winning last season.
“It feels good,” Red Bank head coach Mandi Munn said while holding her teams’ newest trophy. “This senior class has worked hard, especially after last year’s loss, this feels good.”
Coach Munn’s side dominated the early innings and were up 8-0 by the end of the second, but Signal Mountain scored the next six runs. Going into the sixth inning the Eagles were still down 8-6, but they had all the momentum.

Red Bank’s Lady Lions didn’t waste any time taking control of their softball game with the Bledsoe County Lady Warriors at Red Bank Friday afternoon.
Playing the opening game of the Red Bank Invitational, the Lady Lions scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second and that’s all that senior right-hander Bailee Phillips needed in a 5-0 victory that was called after five innings by time limit.
