9 & 10 News April 27, 2021 In one week, voters in Manistee will be voting on a bond proposal for Manistee Area Public Schools. The district is proposing a millage that would demolish one of its elementary schools and expand on other buildings. Ronald Stoneman, superintendent of MAPs, says, “We really have a great proposal put together and a vision that’s been created over about three or four years of research and work and outreach to the community.” The district is proposing a nearly $31-million bond for a term of 25 years. For a home valued around $100,000, the owner would pay about $265 a year.

The grants were made in partnership with the Michigan Department of Education. “School meals are available to students across Michigan no matter if they are learning remotely or participating in a hybrid model,” said Allison Dela Cuesta, field manager for the No Kid Hungry campaign. “These grants will help ensure students in Michigan continue to get the nutrition they need to learn during this difficult time.”
