A Belton man was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of indecency with a child, both second-degree felonies. Samuel Neal Kennedy, 46, was arrested at his home by members of the Bell County Sheriffâs Department Special Crimes Unit after a warrant was issued by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman. Kennedy was in custody at the Bell County Jail Thursday afternoon. His bond is recommended at $175,000. Investigators said Kennedy retired from the U.S. Army as a sergeant in December 2016. During his enlistment, he was investigated at least six times for sexual abuse offenses involving minor children, according to a news release from Lt. Bob Reinhard of the Bell County Sheriffâs Department. ....
Second Arrest Made in 2019 Murder of 2-Year-Old Child in Temple Temple police have made a second arrest in the case of a 2-year-old girl who was murdered last summer. Ashley McAlpine of Temple was booked into the Bell County Jail Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 10:51 AM. She remained there Friday afternoon with a listed bond of $500,000. She s charged with first degree felony injury to a child. Police suspect McAlpine s boyfriend, Jadin Nunez, of killing her daughter, Shanna McAlpine. Let s go back to Sunday, September 22nd of last year. Police were called to a home in the 800 block of South 11th Street, where they found a toddler fatally injured. The girl was pronounced dead shortly after 3:30 AM that morning. Her death was later determined to have been the result of blunt force trauma to the abdomen. ....
