Milwaukie educator David Kays announces run against the board member who was arrested on prostitution charges.
A Milwaukie educator has announced a write-in campaign for the Clackamas Community College board of directors against unopposed incumbent Dave Hunt, who recently was arrested on prostitution charges.
The election is May 18.
David Kays, a 33-year educator, is a music instructor who has taught at Lincoln High School in Portland since 2015. Before that, he taught in the Gladstone School District for 15 years.
I was filling out my own ballot Friday night and realized that I couldn t vote for the incumbent, given his current legal issues, Kays said. My family had a quick discussion and agreed to write me in. By the next morning, we agreed other people might like an alternative, too, and I would be happy to serve the CCC community for a four-year term. Now I m asking for others to write me in. ....

ESCANABA, Mich. Ashley Renee Martin, age 27, of Escanaba, formerly of Gladstone, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Ashley was born October 27, 1993, in Escanaba, the daughter of Heidi (David) Bruce and David (Vicki) Griggs Jr. She was raised in Rapid River and Gladstone and was a 2012 graduate of Gladstone High School. On August 7, 2015, Ashely was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Harley Martin, and together the couple made their home in Escanaba. Ashley was a kind-hearted, fun-loving soul who loved life and everything it had to offer. She adored her animals and loved to spoil them and everyone in her life. She was such a selfless and loving woman to everybody around her, whether you had just met her or known her for years. Gladstone Trooper has roots in the community

GLADSTONE, Mich. (WBUP) A Gladstone native is back to serve his hometown.
Earlier this week, the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post welcomed transfer Trooper Cole Tardiff. Trooper Tardiff grew up in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School. He then went to Bay De Noc Community College where he earned an associates degree in criminal justice.
After graduating with the 134th Trooper Recruit School he gained three years of experience at the Iron Mountain Post. Trooper Tardiff has now transferred to the community he grew up in and is ready to serve the local citizens.
Serving the community is a tradition in the Tardiff family, Cole’s dad, Lt. Todd Tardiff, serves in the Delta County Sheriff’s Department. ....

GLADSTONE, Mich. Thomas I. Davis, age 93, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at LakeView Assisted Living in Gladstone after a life-long career in banking and finance.
Tom was born December 13, 1927 in Gladstone, the son of Shirley and Katherine (Mackin) Davis, one of the earliest families of Gladstone. His father moved to Gladstone from Trenary, MI, in the early 1910’s, building the family home in the 1200 block of Delta Avenue. His mother’s parents moved to Gladstone from Masonville, Mich., in 1888, building a house in the 900 block of Michigan Avenue.
Tom was raised in Gladstone and was a 1945 graduate of Gladstone High School. Upon graduating from high school, Tom joined the Army Air Corps at Selfridge Field, Michigan, serving with the 2nd Combat Airdrome Group in the Airfield Crash Fire Department. Upon discharge, he returned to Gladstone, working for a brief time at the Paper Mill and Baum’s Hardware in Esca ....
