Flat Lake wildfire moving towards Highway 97

Highway 97 remains open for now, but the Flat Lake wildfire is moving in that direction.
Fire Information Officer Erin Bull has the latest on that fire that is burning southwest of 100 Mile House.
“The Flat Lake wildfire has grown.  It’s estimated to be about 10,000 hectares at this time.  Fire growth has been primarily in the southeast direction.  Today, we do have helicopters bucketing that area of the fire.”
Bull says the fire is still a few kilometres away from the Highway, but she says more growth is expected today.
In addition to attacking the fire from the air, Bull says they also have heavy equipment and ground personnel working on it. ....

Evacuation Alert issued for Crooked Lake area

Crooked Lake Evacuation Alert
An Evacuation Alert has been issued by Cariboo Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) for three parcels in the Crooked Lake Area, southeast of Prince George.
This alert covers 7,447 hectares.
The fire causing this alert is the McKinley Lake wildfire, to the east of Williams Lake.
It is now estimated at 2,000 hectares in size and is said to be out of control.

Wildfires ripped through Lytton, British Columbia, on Wednesday - two days after it broke Canada s temperature record
Roughly 1,000 people in and around Lytton fled from their homes as flames engulfed the town in minutes
The extent of the damage was revealed on Thursday as officials said most homes and structures were razed
Officials said it could take days for the region to be deemed safe enough for first responders to begin searching the wreckage for possible fatalities

The only fire of note right now, according to Fire Information Officer Erin Bull, is the Southwest of Deka Lake wildfire that has caused the evacuation of that community as well as Judson Road.
Here, Bull provides an update with the latest information.
“It’s estimated to be about 70 hectares in size. There are currently 48 firefighters assigned to the incident, one helicopter and one piece of heavy equipment.”
Bull says it was lightning caused, which was a common theme in the South Cariboo. ....
