The coronavirus infected more than 67 million people, impacted 80% of jobs, and placed billions in lockdown. It s tempting to imagine how 2020 would have turned out differently without a pandemic. What extra time would we have had with loved ones? What birthdays, weddings and milestones did we miss? And while the crisis affected all of us personally, it also shaped news events around the world, with knock-on effects for millions. Punch Newspapers Sections Chidiebube Okeoma, Owerri The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, has approved the recommendation for the sacking of the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, Prof Adaobi Obasi. Uzodinma’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, in a statement on Friday, said the decision to sack the VC was reached during the executive council meeting chaired by the governor. Nwachuku stated that the VC, who is an aunt of a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, would stop functioning in that capacity from December 30. He said that the council approved the forensic audit of the state’s university amid monumental corrupt practices contained in the report of the visitation panel that recently investigated the university’s activities between 2012 and 2019. ....

Uzodinma’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, in a statement, said the decision to sack Obasi was reached at an Executive Council Meeting chaired by the governor. Nwachuku disclosed that the VC who is an aunt to a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, would stop functioning in that capacity from December 30, 2020. The statement read in part, “The government has also okayed December 30, 2020, for the Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Victoria Adaobi Obasi, to stop functioning in that capacity. ....
