New transit buses to be purchased | News, Sports, Jobs

GLOVERSVILLE The Common Council Tuesday night authorized Finance Commissioner Tammie Weiterschan to make a $343,119 budget modification to purchase city buses.
The resolution approved at City Hall notes that the city Transit Department wants to purchase four buses to be reimbursed by the state Department of Transportation and/or Federal Transit Administration.
“Our expenses will be very low on that,” Weiterschan told the council.
She said one bus will cost the city nothing, as it is fully funded by DOT. The three additional buses will be funded with a 10 percent local match to be reimbursed with CARES Act funding. ....

GLOVERSVILLE Base salaries for administrative and non-represented city employees will largely remain flat next year with some staffers to receive additional pay in the form of stipends.
The Common Council on Tuesday authorized the base salaries of administrative and non-represented city employees for 2021. The base salaries were set this fall by the council as part of the 2021 city budget process through meetings between the council and department heads.
The resolution formally setting the base salaries of administrative and non-represented employees for next year saw wages for nearly every staffer falling under that category remain flat from the current year. ....

Nappanee board boosts support of local agencies

NAPPANEE — Nappanee Board of Works members Monday renewed annual contracts for 2021 and all had some increase over the 2020 contracts.
The board approved the 2021 contract with City Attorney Brian Hoffer. The contract has a slight increase and pays $7,200 for attendance at City Council and Board of Public Works meetings, payable at $600 a month from the general fund and the wastewater treatment plant/board of works fund. The hourly rate was increased $5 to $150 an hour.
Also approved was the contract with Jeff Kitson, doing business as Kitson Development Corp. as executive director of the Chamber of Commerce and the Redevelopment Commission. The contract spells out Kitson’s duties and is for $104,260, payable bi-weekly in installments of 26 pay periods of $4,010.19. Kitson is responsible for paying his employee’s pay and benefits from that amount. ....
