by Declan Rooney
A few extra weeks to recharge might be welcomed in some quarters, but extending the off-season is a form of torture for Armagh captain Kelly Mallon. Four weeks on from their season ending Ulster Final victory she is more than ready to tear into the 2021 season.
Claiming a first provincial title since 2014 in December’s win over Monaghan was a great way to sign off the year for Armagh, but their TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-final loss to Dublin a fortnight earlier has left plenty to stew on and dissect. ....

Ruairi Canavan struck two late points as
Tyrone edged out
Donegal in Ballybofey to move into the semi-finals of the Ulster minor football championship this afternoon.
It finished 0-8 to 0-7 at MacCumhaill Park, where the visitors landed three points in the closing quarter to snatch victory.
Conor O’Neill’s converted mark saw Donegal lead by 0-4 to 0-3 at the half and they’d be two to the good early in the restart before a Canavan brace tied things up.
Blake McGarvey nudged the home side back in front on 40 minutes before a Harry Morgan ‘45’ and a superb point from Canavan sent the Red Hands on their way. ....

McCaffrey hoping to give Fermanagh fans something to cheer

It has been a long year for the Fermanagh U17s but they will finally get their chance to compete in the Ulster Championship when they take on Down this Sunday.

Following the initial cancellation of the U17 competition there have been some false dawns, most recently in October when games were postponed just days before the game was due to take place.
Team captain Ronan McCaffrey admits it was tough to take for the squad but that is behind them and all the players are looking ahead to Sunday. ....

Down have been touted as one of the favourites for the Ulster Championship and with a high profile management team they will be looking for a second victory over Fermanagh in two season.
But despite this, McLaughlin has full faith in his charges come Sunday.
