A SOUTHERN INDIANA MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED FOLLOWING A DEADLY POLICE DEADLY POLICE AND CRASH BLAKE COOMBS WAS ARRESTED IN MAY OF LAST YEAR FOR RECKLESS HOMICIDE AND RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT. POLICE SAY SEVERAL MONTHS EARLIER THE 19 YEAR OLD DROVE AWAY WHEN OFFICERS TRIED TO STOP HIS CARD NEAR MADISON THE PURSUIT ENDED WHEN HE LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE TWO PASSENGERS. TYLER COOLEY AND BROOKLYN JAMES WERE KILLED ACCORDING TO STATE POLICE COOMBS HAD CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND MARIJUANA IN HIS SYSTEM AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH YESTERDAY. HE WAS SENTENCED

A southern Indiana man sentenced Tuesday nearly a year after a deadly police chase and crash. Blake Coombs was arrested in May 2020 for reckless homicide and resisting law enforcement.Sign up for our Newsletters Indiana State Police say, several months earlier, the then 19-year-old drove away when officers tried to stop his car near Madison. The pursuit ended when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole. The two passengers, Tyler Cooley and Brooklyn James, were killed. According to state police, coombs had controlled substances and marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
