Polk State welcomes Vice President for Resource Development & Executive Director of the Foundation

Jeff Baldwin, Polk State College’s new Vice President for Resource Development and Executive Director of the Polk State College Foundation, is quick to express how excited he is to be returning home.
A native of Polk County and graduate of Lakeland High School, Baldwin saw the opportunity to work with Polk County’s largest institution of higher education to bring his skills and expertise back to the community that shaped him.
“This is about coming home to a place that developed me as a person,” said Baldwin. “As a kid, this was a place that I couldn’t wait to get out of, and now, as an adult, I can’t wait to get back.” ....

Polk colleges' fall plans mostly revert to pre-pandemic policies


The schools will still be vigilant for COVID-19 symptoms and will require infected students to quarantine.

Florida Polytechnic University
Polk County’s only public university is transitioning during the summer back to “a pre-pandemic style of operations,” spokeswoman Lydia Guzman said by email. That means normal capacity in classrooms and other common spaces.
Florida Poly will no longer require masks but strongly recommends them for students and staff members who aren’t vaccinated or “who may have a personal or medical reason to do so,” Guzman said.
“All members of our University community are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated,” she wrote. ....
