Saini, who has earned the top spot of Polk State Lakeland Collegiate’s 2021 class with a 4.730 grade-point average, expressed sincerest gratitude to the high school’s faculty and staff for helping to ensure her success and completion of a Polk State Associate in Arts degree. “It is amazing to see how you can still be in high school and get a lot of your college done,” Saini said. “Polk State Lakeland Collegiate has been very beneficial for me to gain not only college credit, but also some college experience.” ....
Members of class of 2020 finally walk in graduation ceremony 1 year later Ken Suarez reports LAKELAND, Fla. - Hundreds of Polk State College students finally got their diplomas at a graduation ceremony at the R.P. Funding Center in Lakeland on Thursday. Last year, Polk State canceled its graduations because of the pandemic. So this year, members of the class of 2021 were joined by members of the class of 2020 who didn’t have the chance to walk back then. Joshua Jackson, who just received his associate’s degree, said it was frustrating having to wait but said it was worth it. ....
The ceremonies will feature remarks from Polk State President Angela Garcia Falconetti; Spring 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Dan Dorrell, a member of the Polk State District Board of Trustees; and T. Michael Stavres, 2020 Distinguished Alumnus and Deputy City Manager of Winter Haven. Polk State conferred a total of 2,713 degrees and certificates in 2020. The spring 2021 graduating class is comprised of 1,271 students. Of those, 89% are Polk County residents, with graduates also coming from Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington. ....
