Pol Gen Visanu Prasattongosoth, a police inspector-general, has been appointed to head a fact-finding probe into the alleged mishandling of the infamous hit-and-run case involving Vorayuth Yoovidhya, scion of the Red Bull empire.
Pol Gen Visanu said he has had to take over the job from the former chairman, because one of the police officers to be questioned is a police general serving as a deputy police chief.
The appointment was signed off on Monday by national police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk. The former chairman is Pol Lt Gen Chettha Komolwatthana, who will remain on the committee as a member. ....

The Royal Thai Police Office has expanded its investigation into a gambling network operating illegally in the East to include 253 more policemen, in addition to the seven officers already implicated.
Announcing the expansion on Thursday, Pol Gen Visanu Prasattongosoth said the investigation headed by police inspector-general Pol Lt Gen Manote Tantrathian had already looked into the activities of seven officers, including the provincial police chiefs in Rayong and Chon Buri.
It concluded that casinos had been operating illegally in the two eastern provinces for a long time. Investigators now suspected another 253 policemen may be involved, Pol Gen Visanu said. ....

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) will conduct a probe into commanders and their subordinates who allegedly allowed two illegal gambling dens to operate under their watch in Rayong and Chon Buri.
Inspector-General Office chief, Visanu Prasattongosoth, said on Wednesday that information obtained by the office confirmed that a gambling den in Rayong had been open for at least a month prior to the recent discovery of a woman gambler there having contracted Covid-19.
Pol Gen Visanu said the den was not an empty warehouse, rejecting the claim by Rayong s Muang district police chief. Local police initially denied a gambling den existed there. ....
