Pol Gen Visanu Prasattongosoth, a police inspector-general, has been appointed to head a fact-finding probe into the alleged mishandling of the infamous hit-and-run case involving Vorayuth Yoovidhya, scion of the Red Bull empire.
Pol Gen Visanu said he has had to take over the job from the former chairman, because one of the police officers to be questioned is a police general serving as a deputy police chief.
The appointment was signed off on Monday by national police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk. The former chairman is Pol Lt Gen Chettha Komolwatthana, who will remain on the committee as a member. ....

National police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk has ordered a probe into opposition claims during last week s censure debate that a police colonel and a police lieutenant general were involved in the smuggling attempt of 1.5 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine in Tak that was foiled on Oct 18, 2019, a source said yesterday.
Pol Gen Suwat assigned deputy national police chief Pol Gen Manu Mekmok in his capacity as chief of the National Command Centre for Combating Drugs (NCCD) and Pol Lt Gen Montri Yimyaem, chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB), to jointly lead the probe, the source said. ....

Half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine, 1.2 million speed pills and other drugs were found concealed in phone booth call boxes ready for delivery from the Northeast to the South of Thailand.
Six suspects were also arrested when Narcotics Suppression Bureau police raided a house in Khon Kaen on Tuesday.
They were among 11 suspects arrested in six cases in which a total of 500 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, 1.79 million meth pills, 1.5kg of cocaine, 1kg of ketamine and 200 ecstasy pills were seized, Pol Gen Manu Mekmok, deputy national police chief, told reporters on Wednesday. Narcotic Suppression Bureau (NSB) police seized about 300 kilogrammes of ketamine in a raid on a warehouse in Nonthaburi and 200kg of heroin in a subsequent search of a rented house in Bangkok s Huay Khwang district, in the small hours of Wednesday, deputy police chief Pol Gen Manu Mekmok said.
About 1am, police raided a warehouse in tambon Thawi Watthana in Sai Noy district, Nonthaburi.
They found and seized 39 sacks labelled flour, about 850kg in total. On close examination, a smaller bag of ketamine was found hidden in every sack of flour. About 300kg of ketamine was collected from the 39 sacks. ....
