WASHINGTON (WFSB) â U.S. Capitol Police have arrested a woman from Stratford, CT who is accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer.
According to officials, 63-year-old Linda MaGovern approached a United States Capitol Inauguration Permieter Checkpoint at First and Columbus Circle NE on Saturday around 8:45 a.m.
Police said MaGovern displayed a metallic object, which was identified as a Military Police Challenge Coin, and stated she was a law enforcement officer and part of the presidential cabinet.
MaGovern was told to put her car in park three times and turn off the car. She was asked for her driverâs license when she began to drive forward.

As Inauguration Day fast-approaches, police have arrested two more individuals near security checkpoints in Washington, D.C., as the security is heightened over concerns regarding the potential violence.
On Sunday, police arrested a 22-year-old man from Virginia while carrying a firearm with three high-capacity magazines and 37 rounds of unregistered ammunition near Capitol Hill.
Based on the Metropolitan Police Department, the individual who was identified as Guy Berry of Gordonsville, Virginia, was walking in the 200 Blk in Massachusetts Avenue NE carrying a Glock 22, which is clearly visible in a holster.
According to NPR, the police report mentioned that the officers who stopped him concluded that he could not carry a handgun in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC A Stratford woman was arrested Saturday in Washington, D.C., near a security checkpoint for the upcoming inauguration and accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer and claiming to be a member of the presidential Cabinet.
Linda MaGovern, 63, is charged with impersonating an officer, fleeing law enforcement and failure to obey, police said.
At 8:45 a.m., MaGovern approached the presidential inauguration perimeter at First Street and Columbus Circle Northeast near the U.S. Capitol, according to a report from D.C. s Metropolitan Police Department. MaGovern displayed a Military Police Challenge Coin a medallion given to officers for outstanding achievement and said she was a law enforcement officer and part of the presidential Cabinet, police said.
