The independent investigation into recent allegations
made about health and safety at the Talley’s Ashburton
factory is well underway.
Led by Chair of Risk
Management Group and former Police Commissioner Mike Bush,
Bush International Consulting Ltd, which has an expertise in
risk and compliance, started its review of the specific
allegations made three weeks ago. Its team of health and
safety specialists visited the Ashburton site last week. As
well as the specific allegations, the company will also
review the overall health and safety culture at the
site.
The Bush International Consulting findings will
be presented to Talley’s in August. The report will be ....

Police's anti-corruption unit looks into more than 200 'matters' in 16 months


Officer numbers were not provided as some matters may involve more than one staff member, while other cases may not involve an identified staff member or were more “thematic in nature”.

New police powers proposed to prohibit gang members owning firearms and seize assets believed to be funded from organised crime will likely perpetuate systemic racism, the Māori Party says.
The National Party meanwhile has applauded the new bill, claiming the genesis as their own, with leader Judith Collins calling for “more teeth” while quashing concerns around systemic racism saying “it does not exist” in the police force.
On Tuesday Police Minister Poto Williams unveiled a bill to make it illegal for “high-risk people”, including gang members and serious criminals, to own firearms by issuing them Firearms Protection Orders (FPOs). ....
