India marks its 75th Independence Day on 15 August 2021. Global celebrations for the anniversary were formally launched on 12 March 2021 with 75 weeks of festivities called ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
An Emirates flight carrying the vaccine consignment arrived at the airport at 11:22pm, said health officials.
At 12:35am today, the country received 10 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine purchased from China.
The 22.5 lakh doses are part of around 45 lakh doses 25 lakh of Moderna and around 20 lakh of Sinopharm that are supposed to reach the country by today.
Bangladesh procured 1.5 crore doses of Sinopharm vaccine and is supposed to get it in three months.
The government has already resumed vaccination in all district hospitals and 40 centres across the capital with 11 lakh doses of the Sinopharm vaccine gifted by the Chinese government.

Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency headquarters for a briefing on the security situation. Received by DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, the premiere was accompanied by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
Following the briefing, he chaired a meeting, that was attended by prominent faces, like Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javaid Bajwa, Chief of Air Staff Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, the Chief of Naval Staff, and Foriegn Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The participants of the meeting were also briefed regarding the foreign relations and his previous visit to the United Nations.
