(KAIT) - A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a house in Portageville and caused damage to a neighborâs home. Crews spent nearly two hours battling the house fire before getting it under control, officials said. âThe home and vehicles were a total loss as well as slight damage to neighbors home and vehicle,â the post noted. âFirefighters remained on scene until 6 a.m. Our prayers go out to (the) family who lost everything in this fire.â ....

With vaccine supply continuing to increase and more Missourians becoming eligible, we will now begin shipping vaccines to pharmacies in all regions and communities throughout the state, said Gov. Mike Parson said during Thursdays COVID-19 briefing. Local pharmacies are a trusted health care resource for many Missourians, so distributing vaccines to as many pharmacies as we can will help expand accessibility by providing a vast network of capable providers in every community. The Missouri Senate Education Committee meets Tuesday at noon to hear a bill from committee chairwoman State Sen. Cindy O’Laughlin, R-Shelbina. It requires the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to annually publish a list of schools on its website that perform in the bottom five percent of schools for more than three years. Under O’Laughlin’s bill, districts with any school falling in the bottom five percent of schools for three years over a five-year period that started in 2018 would close the school and transfer those students to a higher-performing school in the district. ....
