The Gun Updated April 10 at 11:28 PM It’s 9:50 on a Wednesday night, in the Safeway parking lot on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. I’m looking into the passenger-side window of a gray Chevy Tahoe, with $160 in my fist. In the back seat lies a green pillowcase. Inside that pillowcase is a loaded 9 mm handgun. I want that gun. I’m firearms shopping in Northeast Portland not out of self-defense or vigilante delusions. I want to find out how easy it is to buy a gun on the streets. I’ve been at it for less than three hours, and now I could be moments away from getting one.

Summer fun
Fun could be headed back to Portland parks this summer.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions, the Portland Parks & Recreation s summer parks programs were canceled in 2020. But, Commissioner Carmen Rubio and the City Council have been working on restoring funding for many things, including the summer programs.
If COVID-19 and government restrictions allow, we could see the return of:
• Free Lunch & Play: Serving more than 100,000 meals to alleviate hunger.
• Summer camps: Outdoor day camps, sports and art camps would be available at 20 locations.
If you’re looking for something a little more experimental, you might want to catch
Air Conditioner, a magical realist feature set in Angolan capital city Luanda. In a strange reality where air conditioners keep falling out of windows and killing people, apartment building security guard Montacedo is tasked with the fruitless task of getting his boss’ AC unit repaired. The film follows Montacedo for a day while he runs this errand, with diversions into a mad scientist repair man’s workshop, rousing checkers matches with friends on the sidewalk, conversations conducted via telepathy, and a mourning ceremony for an inanimate object. This is the kind of film that pairs great with a joint so pick one up from a local Black-owned dispensary like Green Muse and stream

Oregonians marked President Joe Biden’s first day in office Wednesday with celebrations and protests of the nation’s 46th president.
Fears of armed riots in Oregon’s capital never materialized amid heightened law enforcement presence and the fortification of buildings including the Capitol.
Yet protests continued to unfold late Wednesday in Portland as demonstrators pushed for more rapid policy changes than what Biden has promised.
On Wednesday night, a crowd of at least 100 gathered in South Portland’s Elizabeth Caruthers Park with plans to march to a nearby Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility. Around 9 p.m. the crowd began to move, chanting slogans protesting the United States’ detention and caging of migrant children. Protesters also decried Portland Mayor Ted Whe
