Once the snow starts sticking, the city will deploy 32 plows. Crews will focus on the city’s “salt routes” at the start of the storm. These routes are the major thoroughfares of the city and make up a little more than 40% of all the traffic lanes in Madison. The city has cut down the number of salt routes this year since the Madison School District is doing virtual-only school and reductions in the city’s bus service. “We absolutely prepare for this,” said Madison Streets Division Spokesperson Bryan Johnson. “We actually get ready for this come the end of October usually.” ....
