Some of Thursday’s events include the wagon races and performances by the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls. It normally takes the Redding Rodeo Association a whole year to plan the event, but this year they got it down in two months. The organization updated its signs around the arena and even built new warm-up areas for some of its participants. ....

The Redding Rodeo Association is a non-profit group and relies heavily on sponsors and event-goers to keep it alive. “There s a lot of people that are affected by it,” Bennett Gooch, the President of the Redding Rodeo Association, said. “We re a non-profit, so we reinvest everything back into the community. We start from scratch every year and that s what makes it a little bit more difficult.” ....
