The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department COVID-19 update: 2-18-2021 Feb. 18, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail BENZIE AND LEELANAU COUNTIES Today there were two new cases of COVID-19 reported in Benzie County and three new cases of COVID-19 reported in Leelanau County. Across the state, nearly 2.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered with more than 11% of Michigan residents receiving their first dose. As of Feb. 15, the Benzie Leelanau District Health Department has administered 3,769 doses with more than 15% of residents in the district who have received their first dose. Benzie Central band going ahead with winter concert Feb. 10, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail BENZONIA Benzie Central Schools band students will still be putting on a performance in person for close friends and family. Benzie s winter band concert will be held on Feb. 18, with separate performances from each band. The sixth-grade band will be performing at 6 p.m., the middle school band will be performing at 7 p.m. and the high school symphonic band will be performing at 8 p.m. Doors will be open 20 minutes prior to each performance. (Courtesy Photo/Pixabay) TRAVERSE CITY – Students in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties have the chance to pursue an array of scholarship opportunities for the 2021-2022 school year through the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. The Community Foundation offers over 90 unique scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors, current college students, and students pursuing vocational training and trade professions. Applications open on Jan. 15. Scholarship applications are due March 1, but students are encouraged to begin their applications now. (Courtesy Photo) BENZIE AND LEELNAU COUNTY - The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 reported in Benzie County and seven new cases of COVID-19 reported in Leelanau County. Today, Gov. Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced starting Jan. 11th, residents in Phase 1B are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. MDHHS announced changes to who is eligible for Phase 1B and now includes individuals 65 years and older and some frontline workers (school and childcare staff, frontline responders (County, state, and federal levels), and staff in jails, prisons, and shelters).
