A campus student for the past two years, Romero recently received a $2,000 Science Dean’s Scholarship, which the Eberly College of Science awards to select math and science students in the 2+2 program who are transitioning to University Park for their junior year.
Upon finishing his degree in physics, Romero intends to attend graduate school and receive his doctorate in astrophysics. His ultimate career goal – to work for NASA.
“I feel so honored and happy to have been awarded the Science Dean s Scholars Program Scholarship,” Romero said. “This award will help me proceed with my education in the science field.”

Leadership Lackawanna’s Team Keystone is hosting a Happy Hour “Drive Thru” event to raise funds and supplies for the Keystone Mission’s new outreach van.
The event will be held this Wednesday, May 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Scranton at 100 Adams Avenue. A $10 donation provides attendees with admittance to the Happy Hour, consisting of light fare and two drink tickets per person.
The public is also invited to “Drive Thru” the Hilton entrance and deliver needed items right into the outreach van. Currently, the team is soliciting donations of: socks; backpacks and duffle bags; short and long-sleeve t-shirts; small tents; bottled water; coffee gift cards; jeans; shorts; sneakers; and soft snacks.

DuBois softball drops two games in double-header matchup

DUBOIS, Pa. Penn State DuBois Softball headed into Tuesday’s double-header matchup against Penn State Brandywine in 1st place in the PSUAC East. Tough losses were realized, however, with Brandywine taking the win in both games, 9-5 and 7-0.
Coach Jason Kern called on USCAA National Pitcher of the Week, Lizzy Scott (Morrisdale, Pennsylvania) to start game 1 in the circle for DuBois.
Brandywine scored a quick 2 runs in the top of the 1st, but then Scott and her defense tightened up, and held the opposition scoreless for the next 4 innings.
