Staff writer WHEELING Local fire and emergency departments now won’t need to send members out of the area to get emergency medical technician and paramedic training. West Virginia Northern Community College announced Wednesday it has received a $500,000 grant from the West Virginia Community and Technical College System to offer EMT and paramedic training on all three of its campuses Wheeling, New Martinsville and Weirton. There are presently no regular programs of study for paramedics offered in the Northern Panhandle. Those aspiring to be paramedics had to travel to Pierpont Community and Technical College in Fairmont, or take a class at Belmont College in St. Clairsville when they were available. ....

The suspect's father first alerted Bethlehem police about the incident to tell them his son was depressed, threatening to start a fire and was pouring fuel on his belongings, according to court records ....
BETHLEHEM â A large house fire gutted a Bethlehem home Tuesday evening, and led to the death of a dog. On Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 5 p.m., the Bethlehem Fire Department was dispatched to 55 Magnolia Hill Road for a reported structure fire. Fire Department personnel were on the scene within 30 seconds and found a huge fire visible from the front of the home. âWe had 36 firefighters from Bethlehem alone and over 20 from our mutual aid towns,â Bethlehem Fire Chief Ken LeClerc said. More than 50 firefighters helped to extinguish the blaze, along with and mutual aid from the Watertown Fire Department, Morris Fire Company, Woodbury Fire Department, and the Bantam Fire Company. Connecticut State Police Troop L personnel were also on the scene, along with the Bethlehem Ambulance Association. ....
