Finchem Claims Democratic Leader 'Smeared' His Name

Mark Finchem
Upping the stakes in what has become a political feud over the 2020 election, Rep. Mark Finchem (R-Oro Valley) is suing a Democratic lawmaker charging she smeared his name.
The lawsuit filed in Yuma County Superior Court says that the Rep. Charlene Fernandez (D-Yuma) knew or should have known that there was no evidence linking either Finchem or now former Rep. Anthony Kern (R-Glendale) to the Jan. 6 riot and breach of the U.S. Capitol. Yet Fernandez, along with other Democratic lawmakers, sent a letter to the FBI and the Department of Justice asking that they investigate the pair who were in Washington for the event. ....

Arizona House Rep. Says He’s Suing Democrats for Defamation After Accusing Him of Treason, Insurrection
Arizona state House Rep. Mark Finchem stated that he’s suing members of the Arizona House and Senate for alleged defamation and malice in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
“So earlier in January, the Democrat members of the House and Senate sent a letter to the Department of Justice and the FBI accusing me of high treason, sedition, planning an insurrection, the overthrow of our government,” Finchem, a Republican, told The Epoch Times’ “Crossroads” program on Feb. 27. “All patently absurd, fallacious claims, but then they turned around and sent it to the media as though it was factual. March Finchem
As violent insurrectionists invaded the U.S. Capitol in attempts to stop the certification of the electoral college results, one Arizona lawmaker was present for the fallout.

Mark Finchem tweeted a photo of Trump-flag adorning rioters with the caption: “What happens when the People feel they have been ignored, and Congress refuses to acknowledge rampant fraud. #stopthesteal.”
He has since deleted his Twitter account and moved his social media posts to Gab, a popular platform among alt-right groups. ....

Arizona Rep. Mark Finchem's texts from U.S. Capitol raise questions

When the deadly incursion unfolded at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, at least one Arizona lawmaker was on the ground there and communicated directly with Stop the Steal rally organizers.
Rep. Mark Finchem, R-Oro Valley, exchanged a series of text messages with those organizers as he got swept up in the crowd on his way to the Capitol, records released by his attorney show.
They are storming the Capitol, Mike Coudrey, a Trump supporter and Stop the Steal coordinator, warned in a text to Finchem as the lawmaker reached the side of the building.  I don t think it safe. ....
