Eight Charged in Connection with Illegal Grow House Near Erick

By News Director Jared Atha Court records show that eight men have been charged in Beckham County District court after the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, with help from the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office issued a search warrant at an apparent illegal marijuana grow operation in far western Beckham County in May. Documents show all eight men received one felony charge each of cultivation of a controlled substance, while two others received additional charges of acquiring proceeds from drug activity and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, due to authorities finding over $76,000 and weapons during the May 4 raid.

BREAKING: Apparent Raid at Elk City Home

Multiple law enforcement agencies descend on a home in the east side of Elk City. Members of the Elk City Police Department and the Beckham County District 2 Drug Task Force were seen at a home in the 100 block of Calhoon street early Thursday morning. Witnesses tell Paragon Communications that officials were seen bringing out several boxes from the home. No arrests have been announced, but a source tells Paragon that multiple suspects are being interviewed and “hundreds” of pieces of evidence are currently being processed. Sweetwater Man Charged with Lewd Acts with a Child

By News Director Jared Atha A Sweetwater man was arrested Tuesday after being charged with two felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16 in Beckham County District Court. A warrant was issued last week for the arrest of 66-year-old Lanny Dean Holland after a nearly year long investigation showed that he allegedly had touched his granddaughter inappropriately on multiple occasions while living in the home. The girl was 10-years-old during the time of the alleged acts. According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, a report of alleged child sexual abuse was made to the Beckham County Sheriff’s office on May 30, 2020 by the child’s parents. During a forensic interview with the child, she would claim that Holland inappropriately touched the child on multiple occasions inside the home, and at one time while the two were inside the living quarters of the family’s horse trailer while at the Clinton Livestock

Sayre Man Charged After Sending Inappropriate Messages to Minor

By News Director Jared Atha A Sayre man was arrested recently after allegedly sending inappropriate online messages and an inappropriate picture of himself to his cousin – a female under the age of 18. According to court records 23-year-old Danny Eger Lynn Merilatt was arrested on January 28, after an arrest warrant was issued on January 12. A probable cause affidavit showed that the incident in question took place late last August when the suspect was at the minor’s home along with her mother. The two were sending each other messages while the mother was in the room, and according to the minor’s testimony during a later interview with police, the conversation turned inappropriate. In fact the minor had screen-shot the conversation and showed the police. She would say a short time later the suspect would send a nude photo of himself to the girl, and when the mother left the room, exposed himself, requested to see the girl’s breast, and attempted to kiss her.
