Why pay taxes to PMC for missing amenities: Sahakarnagar denizens Why pay taxes to PMC for missing amenities: Sahakarnagar denizens BySupriya DedgaonkarSupriya Dedgaonkar / Updated: Jul 12, 2021, 06:00 IST Residents of Sahakarnagar II have questioned the Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) collecting taxes from them when it does not give any civic amenities in return. They have said that issues of garbage collection, pending monsoon works, illegal tree cutting and delayed electricity tasks have increased their daily struggles. The residents asserted they have raised questions and put up issues before the civic body only after trying to resolve it at their end. They have cleared a lot of piled up garbage themselves. They also pointed out how there are several vehicles abandoned in their area which have not been removed despite repeated requests and follow-ups. Sahakarnagar is a prime location and has been part of the municipal corporation ever since its formation.

‘AC buses violate COVID norms’ BySupriya DedgaonkarSupriya Dedgaonkar / Updated: Jul 7, 2021, 06:00 IST Activists mock launch of new buses with protest Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited’s ( PMPML) decision to ply 50 air-conditioned ( AC) buses in the central parts of the city from July 9 is in direct violation of COVID norms which prohibit use of ACs, alleged a city social group here on Tuesday. It may be noted that the PMPML has announced a Rs 10 daily pass for passengers on AC buses starting in the city soon. The transport body and the Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) have erected flex boards around the city announcing the same. The authorities seem to be ignoring the advice to not use ACs as these contribute to the spread of novel coronavirus.
