The Nest rebuilds after devastating fire | Milford LIVE! - Local Delaware News, Kent and Sussex Counties

The Nest has reopened in a new location after a fire destroyed their previous location Hillary Brock, owner of The Nest Spa & Skincare Boutique, is grateful for the support of her customers and the community over the past few months. In Sept. 2020, a fire on the 100 block of Federal Street in Milton caused by an electrical malfunction destroyed her business and several others. Although no one was injured despite people being inside the building when the fire began, Brock’s business was a total loss. “I was renting that space and offered nails, skin care and massage services,” Brock said. “At the time, I was handling all the supplies for everyone working with me as well as my own needs as an esthetician. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do but figured this was like a redo for my business. My husband and I had just built a new home in Lewes. We put up a big pole barn and my husband suggested we section off the front of the building and turn it into my shop.”

Exception to an exception, Mr VanSciver

Alicia Jones April 12, 2021 Concerning Mr. James VanSciver’s letter: I did not notice your presence or voice at Cape Minority Liaisn Committee when changing the Cape District’s approach to hiring minority teachers more representative of the community, or including books with Black authors, including Bryan Stevenson’s young adult version of “Just Mercy” or examining the disciplinary discrepancies between whites and Black students for similar offenses which resulted in an overhaul of the Code of Conduct.  I sit on the Governor’s DREJ Wealth Creation and Education forums but did not run across your name there either.  I frequently attend the two remaining Black churches in Lewes on Sunday, the most segregated day of the week, and do not remember seeing you either in the pews or hearing your birthday or anniversary announcements.  I have talked to some of the longtime Black leaders in the community as well as residents, and did not hear your name mentioned eith
