'Nature Matters' lecture to focus on otters

ASTORIA — Peter Hatch and John Goodell from the Elakha Alliance will present “Oregon’s Lost Sea Otters: Restoring a Cultural Heritage and Ecological Keystone” for Lewis and Clark National Historical Park’s monthly “Nature Matters” lecture series at 7 p.m. Jan. 14.
The pair will discuss the what might be gained from the return of sea otters to Oregon. Additional focuses will include the history of regional sea otters and the possible future of sea otters in Oregon..

Hatch is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and works in the tribe’s Cultural Resources office. He is the son of the late David Hatch — the co-founder of the Elakha Alliance.
