More than $1.8 million in public funds from the city of Las Cruces Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Friends of Visit Las Cruces and a number of city-sponsored events were mishandled or misused from 2016 though 2019.
That’s according to an independent auditor’s report that looked at questionable business relationships involving Phil San Filippo, former director of the Las Cruces Convention and Visitors Bureau, who later became the city’s economic development director; Marci Dickerson, who ran a catering company that serviced the Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Stuart Ed, former city manager, who was in charge of overseeing these transactions. ....
