U.S. attorneys in Oklahoma resign as Biden moves to shape Justice Department

U.S. attorneys for the western and northern districts of Oklahoma announced their resignations on Tuesday, as the Biden administration moves to put its stamp on the Justice Department.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Downing, the lead federal prosecutor for the Western District, based in Oklahoma City, and U.S. Attorney Trent Shores, of the Northern District, based in Tulsa, said they will resign on Feb. 28.
The U.S. attorney general’s office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, based in Muskogee, could not be reached for comment. ....

Haskell Man Originally Charged With 3 Crimes, Now Faces 1 Charge
A Haskell man who was originally charged with three serious crimes, is now charged with only one case after it was moved to federal court.
One of Aaron Johnson s victims, James Murray, is frustrated and worried he won t get justice after he said he was robbed and beaten by Johnson and his crew.
Murray recalled being assaulted that night when he woke up and found Johnson in his home.
He started screaming, Get down, get down, get down! He hit me, he was gouging me with the gun, Murray said. He hit me in the head with the gun and of course it knocked me about half out and I laid on the floor. And he said, I oughta kill you. ....

Her family has been following various leads, including draining a pond near her home, but is no closer to discovering what happened to Dameron, who was 25 when she disappeared, her aunt, Pam Smith, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Now, as two Oklahoma attorneys partner with the Cherokee Nation and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation on a new pilot project to raise awareness, resources and protocols for cases of missing and murdered indigenous people, Smith finally feels some hope. ....
