Read More News at Firefighters are making some headway on the Tussock Fire burning near Crown King in the Bradshaw Mountains. The wildfire has burned over 55-hundred acres and is now 66-percent contained. Fire officials removed all evacuation notices for Crown King and surrounding areas. Smoke from the Tussock Fire is not impacting Interstate-17. Winds are pushing smoke to the north-northeast. The fire started Saturday afternoon and is believed to be human caused. Coconino Boys Beat Prescott, Will Host 12th-Seeded Mesquite Saturday In The Second Round The fourth-seeded Coconino Panthers advanced to the quarterfinals of the 4A Boys State Playoffs Wednesday with a 62-45 win against the 13th-seeded Prescott Badgers in the first round of the 4A Boys State Playoffs. The Panthers got out to a slow start, trailing the Badgers 26-23 at halftime. Head coach Mike Moran shook his team up a little bit at halftime and the Panthers caught fire. Coconino outscored Prescott 25-5 in the third quarter en route to the win. Jacob Begay led the Panthers with 25 points and Preston Olney added 13 in the win. Jason Parent led the Badgers with 23 points. The Panthers will host the 12-seeded Mesquite Wildcats Saturday. Mesquite upset the fifth-seeded Pueblo Warriors in Tucson Wednesday 66-63. The winner of Saturday’s game will get the winner of top-seeded St. Mary’s and ninth-seeded Bradshaw Mountain, who beat eighth-seeded Estrella Foothills in over ....
KAFF News Coconino Girls, Boys And Flagstaff Girls Hoops Find Out Seedings In 4A State Playoffs The Coconino girls and boys basketball teams, along with the Flagstaff girls team, found out their seedings for the 4A State Playoff on Saturday. The Flagstaff Eagles are seeded sixth and will host the 11th-seeded American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek Tuesday night. The Eagles finished with a 16-2 record and a perfect 11-0 mark in the Grand Canyon Region. The Patriots went 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the 4A Desert Sky Region. The two teams played back on February 19th in Queen Creek with the Eagles winning, 63-46. The Coconino girls team is seeded ninth and will travel to eighth-seeded Estrella Foothills Wolves. The Panthers finished with a 11-3 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Grand Canyon Region. Coconino lost twice to Flagstaff and to top-seeded Seton Catholic.
