Notorious Ivegate alley could be blocked to stop crime and anti-social behaviour

People have until March 17 to comment on the proposals.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Bradford District Police have been working closely with Bradford Council, local businesses and residents on long running issues and concerns about anti-social behaviour and crime in the area close to Ivegate in the city centre.
“Bradford City NPT have focused their proactive high visibility patrols in the area, engaged with a number of individuals in the areas causing issues and have made several arrests.
“We have also supported local partners along with Bradford Council and explored a number of long-term solutions including the closure of the alleyway. ....

Listed former city centre bank unit up for rent | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

A CITY centre bank which shut last year is now being marketed for rent.
Last Summer the Co-Operative bank announced that its branch on Tyrrel Street would be among 18 in the UK to shut.
Chief Executive Andrew Bester said more customers were choosing to bank online, and making fewer transactions in branches.
Now the former bank unit, based in the Grade II listed Prudential Assurance building, is being marketed for rent.
The 160 square metre ground floor and 93.8 sq m basement is being marketed by Sharma Williamson, with a £41,500 per annum rent.

Undercover operation in Barkerend area: Two jailed for drugs trafficking
TWO men have been jailed as part of a large-scale drug dealing operation in Bradford.
On November 26, Hamza Shakeel, 24, of Kimberley Street, Bakthyar Ali, 24, of Gladstone Street, pleaded guilty to drug offences - including the conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, conspiracy to supply Class B drugs and drugs trafficking.
The operation
Between February and July 2019, undercover officers bought Class A drugs from dealing lines which operated in the area of the Barkerend corridor into Bradford City Centre.
Local residents and business owners had made long standing complaints of the criminal activity in the area, which resulted in outbreaks of violence that saw firearms discharges and violence which were believed to be connected to a large-scale drugs operation. ....

Plan that sets out 'future growth locations' for Bradford is approved

A SCHEME that will see Holme Wood and Apperley Bridge become “future growth locations” has been approved.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s “Spatial Priority Areas” were agreed at a meeting yesterday, and the two areas of Bradford have been classed as areas where there could be large housing developments, or the creation of large scale employment developments.
The Canal Road Corridor is classed as an “Investment Location” - a site where future housing and employment development should be encouraged and Shipley and Keighley area areas that will be targeted for regeneration.
Bradford is classed as a “main urban centre” while Leeds is referred to as the region’s “core city.” ....
